Exciting New CJC Competition
Published Wed 16 Feb 2022
Starting February 2022 we are running a competition in parallel with the 10K Handicap. It is designed to encourage our elite runners while giving the rest of us something to admire and aspire to.
Introducing…
HALL'S HEROES
Hall's Heroes, named after an ex-president who spruiked the idea but shall remain anonymous, is a points-based competition open to all club members but aimed at the pointy end of our long list of talented runners. With separate competitions for male and female runners, points are awarded for the fastest overall time to the first 10 fastest outright participants of a handicap event. Points are accumulated across the whole season and the winners will be declared as the runners with the most points at the end of the season. Every handicap event from now is counted, including the Alan Holt Memorial 10 Mile. From next year (2023), all handicap events including the 5K will be included in the competition.
It's important to note that the 10K Handicap event remains our premier competition, meaning the winner of the Handicap series will remain as the Club Champion. Hall's Heroes is a supplementary competition which provides incentive for our elite athletes, while putting on a show for the benefit of the rest of us, and encouraging high quality fields throughout the season. We hope this helps maintain and grow our position in the Macarthur district as the premier running club, from which we can all benefit as a result.
THE RULES
- Separate competitions for male runners and female runners.
- The results are based on fastest elapsed time by runners in each of the 10km events and the 10 mile event.
- The fastest male and female runner each receive 10 points per event, the second fastest 9, 3rd – 8 points, 4th -7 points … all the way to 1 point each for the 10th fasted male and female.
- In the event of runners with the same elapsed time in an event, each runner receives the same number of points. (e.g. If two runners receive 10 points in an event, the next (third) runner receives 8 points)
- Winner of each competition is the runner with the most points after the 10 events.
- In case of a tie for first place in a competition, the award is shared by the members.
