Published Thu 09 Jul 2020

Campbelltown Joggers Club – We are back!!!

It’s been a while but we are coming back! There will be some modifications for the foreseeable future and things could change again with little to no warning but the CJC committee are very pleased to be able to bring back our regular events.

For all runs the motto will be “Get in, Run, Get out” in accordance with the AIS recommendations. All members are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the CJC Covid-19 Safety Plan. Please ensure that you follow social distancing guidelines at all times (including no hand-shakes, high-fives, spitting) and under no circumstances should you attend if you are showing any cold or flu like symptoms.

Sunday Club Runs – Recommencing Sunday 12 July

  • All attendees are requested to “Get in, Run, Get Out”
  • Access to the Club Shed will be strictly limited to CJC Committee Members only and one committee member at a time.
  • Club Members are not permitted to store any personal belongings in the shed - drink bottles, back-packs, bikes, warm gear to be kept in your car. You are responsible for holding your own keys during the run.
  • The purchase of Club Merchandise is to be via the CJC Website only and collection arranged with Cheryl.
  • Run Maps will not be displayed on Sunday mornings and there will no run briefing. An email will be sent to members weekly (Thursday/Friday) with a link to the correct map on the website.
  • The Post-Run Morning Tea will be cancelled until further notice.
  • Toilet facilities will be available however CCC requires us to regularly clean these facilities. CJC will supply anti-bacterial wipes and the rule will be – you use it, you clean it!
  • Attendance at Sunday Runs will be recorded by a Committee Member.

Tuesday Track – Recommencement Date to Be Confirmed (Stay Tuned)

  • The track will commence ASAP subject to Council approval. It is noted by the Committee that the track does pose the greatest risk to the safety of our members. The Committee will monitor the recommencement of the track closely and made any further modifications as required. At this stage:
  • Registration/De-Registration Desk MUST be contactless – Cash Payments will not be accepted under any circumstances.
  • Hand Sanitiser on Registration Desk. Volunteers provided with PPE if they desire.
  • Toilet facilities will be available however CCC requires us to regularly clean these facilities. CJC will supply anti-bacterial wipes and the rule will be – you use it, you clean it!
  • Grandstand Seating to be used for bags/personal belongings only. No sitting. Members are requested to social distance personal belongings also.
  • Only one parent/carer per Junior Member (Unless parents are both participating).
  • The attendance of non-running children is strongly discouraged.
  • We will provide further information relating to our track procedures upon confirmation of our start date.

Wednesday Night Runs – Recommencing Wednesday 15 July

The Wednesday Night Bradbury Loops will recommence from next Wednesday. All participants will need to have their attendance recorded off by a Committee Member.

Saturday Trail – Recommencing Saturday 18 July

The Saturday Trail run will recommence from Saturday week. All participants are encouraged to have the COVID-19 app installed and open on their phone.

Handicap Events/Junior Cross Country/Club Championship Series – Recommencing Sunday 26 July

The CJC Committee has decided in order to honour the prestige of the Club Championship and with some uncertainty regarding future restrictions, there will be no Club Championship Competition for 2020. We do know that many of you have missed competitive running and will still conduct the remaining 10km Handicaps on the 4th Sunday of each month for July, August, September and October. The Winner of these Handicap Events will still be awarded the esteemed Red Singlet and trophy at our Annual Presentation Night. The Alan Holt 10 Mile Handicap will also be rescheduled once CJC operations are back up and running.

President’s Cup will be determined by the 5 handicap events that have/will take place – February, July, August, September and October. Stay tuned for more details.

The Junior Cross Country will also take place in July, August, September and October.

There will obviously be a few procedural changes to Handicap Day that will be communicated to all members in due course.

We thank you for your patience and ask for your cooperation to ensure that CJC events can continue in this new normal.

Regards

Peta Shanahan
